Yes. Flashcards is free on iPhone, iPad and Android, with no ads. The free app includes the five Leitner boxes, text and photo cards, voice memo recording, reminders, streaks and library export. Flashcards Plus is an optional subscription for sync, partners, the topic library and AI.

iPhone and iPad with iOS or iPadOS 17 or later, and Android phones with Android 8 or later. The app is available in English, German, Spanish, French, Japanese, Polish, Russian, Simplified Chinese and Czech. There is no web or desktop version.

No. The whole app works offline without an account: create topics and cards, study with the five Leitner boxes, and set reminders. An account is only used for the online features of Flashcards Plus, such as sync and study partners.

Every new card starts in Box 1. When you know a card, it moves up one box; Box 1 is reviewed after 1 day, Box 2 after 3, Box 3 after 7, Box 4 after 14 and Box 5 after 30 days. When you forget a card, it returns to Box 1 and is due again tomorrow.

Known moves a card up one box. Again sends it back to Box 1, shows it once more in the same session, and schedules it for tomorrow. Marking a card as hard keeps it due every day and shows it twice per session, so you practise it more often.

Yes. Practice and preview let you go through a topic or a box at any time, for example right before an exam. They never change boxes or due dates.

Each side of a card holds text of up to 500 characters or an image from your camera or photo library. Photos are free and work offline.

With Flashcards Plus, you record a voice memo and AI turns it into card suggestions. You edit and confirm every card before it is saved. Plus includes 12 AI uses a day and up to 60 a month. The AI does not read photos.

4.99 € a month or 29.99 € a year in euro countries, and US$4.99 or US$29.99 in the US; other App Store countries are priced in local currency. The yearly plan starts with a one-week free trial.

Your library stays on your device and you keep studying offline. Sync pauses and the online features are hidden until you subscribe again. Nothing is deleted.

Open a topic, create an invite and send the link or show the QR code. You approve your partner’s join request, and the topic appears in both libraries. Each member needs their own Flashcards Plus.

No. Each member has their own boxes and progress. Reviews, ratings and hard marks stay private; partners only see the shared cards and the topic activity.

Without Plus, everything: topics, cards, images, memos and progress. With Plus, synced content is also stored on our server so it can reach your other devices and partners. Flashcards has no ads and no tracking SDKs.

In the app, open Profile › Account › Delete account. Without the app, use the account deletion form on this website. Deleting your account removes your server data; it does not cancel an App Store subscription.

Export your library as a file in the app at any time. For data stored on our server, send a privacy request through this website, and we answer it under the GDPR.
