Your data stays with you
Without Plus, your library never leaves your device. Flashcards shows no ads and contains no tracking SDKs. To move to a new phone without an account, export your library as one file, with topics, cards, progress and images, and import it on the new device.
Online only when you choose
Some features need a server: sync across devices, shared topics with partners, the topic library and AI cards from voice memos. They are part of Flashcards Plus. You buy Plus first and only then sign in with Apple, so the free app never asks for an account. If Plus ends, sync pauses and your library stays on your device.
Fast and light
Flashcards is a native app, built with SwiftUI on iPhone and iPad and Jetpack Compose on Android, with no web view and no ad network. It opens quickly, and studying works the same in a tunnel, on a plane or in a basement library.
Questions about offline use
Do I ever need an account?
Not for the free app. You can create, study and organise all your cards without registering. An account (Sign in with Apple) is only used after you buy Flashcards Plus, for sync, partners, the topic library and AI.
Can I move my cards to a new phone without an account?
Yes. Export your library as a file in the app, including topics, cards, progress and images, and import that file on the new device. With Flashcards Plus, sync does this automatically.
What data leaves my device?
In the free app, your cards and progress stay on your device. Data only leaves it when you use Plus features: synced content is stored on our server, and AI conversions send the memo to an AI provider.
Do you show ads?
No. Flashcards has no ads and no tracking SDKs, in the free app and in Plus. The app is financed by Flashcards Plus subscriptions.
