Terms of use

1. The app

You can use Flashcards free of charge and without an account. Your library is stored on your device. Online features (sync, study partners, the topic library, and AI cards) are part of Flashcards Plus and need an account.

The app is licensed to you, not sold. On iPhone and iPad, Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement applies, supplemented by these terms. On Android, the Google Play terms apply in addition.

2. Account

You create an account with Sign in with Apple. Keep access to your Apple ID secure. You can delete your account at any time in the app or on Delete your account. Deleting your account does not cancel your subscription; cancel it in your Apple ID settings.

3. Your content

Your cards, images, and recordings remain yours. You allow us to store, process, and transmit them only as far as needed to provide the features you use, for example to sync them or to show them to the study partners you invite.

Only add content you are allowed to use. Do not share illegal content, and only record other people with their consent. We may remove content that clearly violates the law or these terms.

4. Learning together

Members of a shared topic can see and edit its cards. If you leave a shared topic or delete your account, the topic stays with its other members; cards you added remain without your name.

5. AI features

AI card suggestions are created automatically and can be wrong or incomplete. Check every suggestion before you save it. Nothing is added to your library until you confirm.

Flashcards Plus includes up to 12 AI uses per day and 60 per month. We may adjust these limits to protect the service and tell you in the app.

6. Flashcards Plus subscription

Flashcards Plus is an auto-renewing subscription, available on iPhone and iPad today. In the euro area it costs €4.99 per month or €29.99 per year, in the United States $4.99 or $29.99. In other App Store storefronts, Apple sets the price in your local currency. The price shown in the app before you buy applies.

The yearly plan starts with a free trial of 7 days. If you do not cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends, the yearly subscription starts and is charged. Any unused part of a free trial ends when you buy a subscription.

Payment is charged to your Apple ID when you confirm the purchase, or when the trial ends. The subscription renews automatically for the same period and price unless you turn off auto-renewal at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for the renewal within the 24 hours before the current period ends.

You can manage and cancel your subscription in your Apple ID account settings: on your iPhone or iPad, open Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions. Cancelling stops the next renewal; Plus stays active until the end of the paid period. Apple handles the purchase, billing, any statutory right of withdrawal, and refunds under its terms.

If Plus ends, the app keeps working offline with your library on the device; online features stop until you subscribe again.

7. Availability and changes

We work to keep the online features available but cannot guarantee uninterrupted operation, for example during maintenance or outages. We may develop the app further and change features, as long as the main features of Flashcards Plus you paid for remain available during the paid period.

8. Liability

We are liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence, for injury to life, body, or health, and under the German Product Liability Act. For slight negligence we are only liable for breaches of essential contractual obligations, limited to the damage typical for the contract and foreseeable when it was concluded. Otherwise our liability is excluded. Please export your library from time to time as a backup.

9. Ending the use

You can stop using the app and delete your account at any time. We may block an account if it is used in serious breach of these terms or the law; any paid period is then refunded pro rata as far as Apple allows.

10. Changes to these terms

We may change these terms for valid reasons, such as new features or legal changes. We inform you about material changes in the app in good time. Changes never affect a period you have already paid for.

11. Applicable law

German law applies, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. If you are a consumer, the mandatory consumer protection rules of the country where you live remain unaffected. We are neither willing nor obliged to take part in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board.
