Delete your account

Flashcards, the Leitner flashcard app, works without an account. If you signed in with Apple to use online features such as sync or study partners, you can delete that account and all data stored with it at any time: directly in the app, or with the form on this page.

Delete your account in the app

This is the fastest way. Deleting in the app takes effect immediately.

iPhone and iPad

  1. Open Flashcards and go to the Profile tab.
  2. Tap Account.
  3. Tap Delete account.
  4. Confirm with Apple when asked, then confirm the deletion.

Android

The Android app currently works offline without an online account, so we store nothing about you on our servers. To remove your data, delete your topics in the app or uninstall it. If you created an account on an iPhone or iPad, delete it there or use the form below.

Delete your account with this form

No access to your iPhone or iPad any more? Request the deletion here. We send you an email with a confirmation link. After you confirm, we delete the account within one month at the latest, usually within a few days, and let you know by email.

Signed in with “Hide My Email”? Apple forwards mail to @privaterelay.appleid.com addresses only from senders registered with Apple, and our website’s sending domain is not registered yet. Enter an address you can read and add the relay address in the optional field, so we can find your account.

We send the confirmation link here and reply to this address.

If you chose “Hide My Email” when you signed in with Apple, enter the address ending in @privaterelay.appleid.com. You find it on your iPhone in Settings → your name → Sign-In & Security → Sign in with Apple → Flashcards.

We only use these details to handle your request. More in the privacy policy.

What gets deleted

  • Your account, your Sign in with Apple link, and the email address stored with it
  • Your profile name
  • Topics only you use, with their cards, images, voice memos, and transcripts
  • Your study progress, reviews, and activity
  • Your devices, sessions, and open invites

Topics you share with study partners stay available to them: the next member becomes the owner, and cards you added stay in the topic without your name. Records of AI usage are anonymized instead of deleted, so they keep only counts and costs without any link to you.

What stays on your device

Your phone keeps its local library, so you can go on studying offline. To remove it as well, delete the topics in the app or uninstall Flashcards.

Subscriptions

Deleting your account does not cancel Flashcards Plus, because Apple bills the subscription. Cancel it on your iPhone or iPad in Settings → your name → Subscriptions.

Backups and timing

Deletion removes your data from our live systems at once. Our encrypted backups rotate automatically: images and voice memos leave them within 14 days, database records within about 6 months. Backups are only used to recover from an outage; if we ever restore one, we repeat every deletion made since then.
